Our compost is created from the horses boarding at Rocky Point Stables in Scappoose, Oregon. Everyday, the horse stalls are cleaned and the smelly Poo is delivered to the barn. The Poo is then placed in the first of a series of treatment cells to begin the composting process. Each treatment cell is designed to facilitate the natural composting properties in The Poo. We add oxygen and let The Poo heat up to over 150 degrees Fahrenheit to kill all pathogens and break down any remaining seeds. The Poo is periodically transferred from one treatment cell to the next with a series of conveyor belts which allows us to re-adjust to the proper moisture content and add even more oxygen to transform The Poo into compost. After a few transfers, the transformation to compost is complete and the compost is ready for your garden, lawn, or shrubs.
